At Wild Willow Redemption Ranch, horse rescue is rooted in dignity, responsibility, and long-term care. We exist to provide safe landings for horses who need a second chance and to steward their next chapter with intention, ethics, and respect.
Rescue here is not rushed, transactional, or driven by urgency alone. Every decision is made with the horse’s physical, emotional, and relational well-being in mind.
At Wild Willow Redemption Ranch, our sponsorship program is not separate from adoption. It is the adoption process.
We believe horses and people both deserve more than rushed decisions and surface-level connections. This program exists to create something different. Something intentional, honest, and built on relationship first.
Our sponsorship program is a 3-month, 12-session guided experience where you are paired with a specific horse and given the opportunity to build a real relationship before adoption is finalized.
This is not “come pick a horse and take it home.”
This is learn the horse, learn yourself, and let the right fit reveal itself.
Each session is hands-on and guided, covering:
This process is just as much about the human as it is about the horse.
Anyone can want a horse.
Not everyone is ready to care for one well.
Horses require consistency, presence, financial responsibility, and emotional steadiness. This program allows us to slow things down and make sure:
A “good match” should feel grounded, not rushed.
Each horse has an adoption fee that reflects the time, care, rehabilitation, and training invested into them.
That adoption fee includes the full 12-session sponsorship program.
If a horse’s adoption fee is $3,000, that already includes:
For those who need it, payment plans can be discussed during the sponsorship period. For those who don’t, the structure remains the same because the process matters just as much as the outcome.
If at any point it becomes clear that the horse is not the right fit, that is not failure. That is responsible horsemanship.
Our goal is not to “make a sale.”
Our goal is to make the right match.
If the relationship develops the way it should, adoption is finalized at the end of the program.
From there:
Every adoption includes first right of refusal, meaning if anything ever changes, the horse comes back to us. Always.
We are not here for quick placements.
We are here for lasting ones.
If you are looking for a horse to fill a gap, this may not be the right place.
If you are looking to build something real, we’re here for that.
Help Horses. Heal Humans.
Wild Willow Redemption Ranch accepts select surrender cases on a limited basis. We understand that surrender is often a painful and complex decision, and we approach each request with compassion, honesty, and discernment.
All surrender inquiries are reviewed individually and may require:
• veterinary records and history when available
• transparency regarding health, behavior, and training
• an intake and evaluation period
We reserve the right to decline a surrender if we cannot ethically meet the horse’s needs or if placement would compromise the safety or integrity of the program.
Once accepted, surrendered horses are provided safety, consistent care, and time to decompress before any decisions about next steps are made.
Our rescue program is guided by ethical horsemanship and trauma informed care. Horses in our care are never treated as tools, commodities, or problems to be fixed.
We are committed to:
• humane, consent based handling
• patience over pressure
• relationship over performance
• honoring each horse’s nervous system, history, and capacity
Training or handling methods that rely on fear, force, punishment, or intimidation are not permitted. This includes excessive or punitive use of equipment, aggressive handling, or dominance based approaches.
Every horse is allowed time, choice, and consistency to rebuild trust. Progress is measured by regulation, safety, and relationship, not speed.
Adoption through Wild Willow Redemption Ranch is intentional, relationship-focused, and selective. We do not operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
Our preference is for horses to be placed within equine-assisted therapy, counseling, therapeutic riding, veteran, youth, or other healing-centered programs whenever possible, as this closely aligns with the redemption-focused mission and heart behind Wild Willow Redemption Ranch. Horses who have overcome neglect, hardship, uncertainty, or trauma often go on to help humans doing the same. Because of this, preference for adoption placement may be given to qualified therapy or equine-assisted programs.
All adoptions are completed under contract with Wild Willow Redemption Ranch, outlining care standards, welfare protections, and return policies designed to safeguard the horse’s long-term well-being.
Potential adopters must demonstrate:
• the ability to provide safe, appropriate housing and consistent daily care
• financial readiness for ongoing veterinary, farrier, dental, and nutritional needs
• alignment with our care, training, and welfare ethics
• willingness to participate in a thoughtful and intentional matching process
• the ability to consistently show up for the horse physically, emotionally, and financially
If circumstances ever change, horses adopted through Wild Willow Redemption Ranch will always have a safe return path.
For information regarding currently available horses, please see our Available for Adoption tab or our Facebook page for more information. Adoption availability is shared intentionally to ensure appropriate matching, safety, and long-term success for both horse and human.
Our priority is not adoption speed.
It is the right home, for the right horse, at the right time.
